I was looking for a BBQ sauce that didn’t contain onions since I can’t digest them any longer and all the commercial sauces contain onions in some form. I made this one and wasn’t impressed at first, probably because I was used to commercial sauce. I froze the leftover and thawed it several months later and had a different opinion. I loved it. Luckily, I kept the recipe, and I made another batch. It was even better. I cut back some of the red pepper and chili powder to have a less spicy version. Definitely a keeper.

Hi Carol, thanks for reaching out. I have updated the recipe. It makes about 1.7 cups of sauce, which is 27 tablespoon-sized servings.

It also does not give the serving size (2 Tbsp? 1/4 C?). Please update the recipe.

Followed recipe but could only taste apple cider vinegar. It just wasn’t for my taste buds.

I made this to go with some bison ribs. Very good simple sauce. I used maple syrup instead of brown sugar, and I only put a quarter teaspoon of cayenne pepper in. It was hot enough for us and fabulous. I am thinking this would be awesome on Smokies or wieners cooked on the fire.
